Zero no Tsukaima
I watched this series while it was airing in Japan, but I’ve had lots to do these few past weeks so I didn’t have the chance to blog this series yet. Therefore I’ll just treat it like a series I’ve seen as a whole and just give some remarks on the series.
First of all, I never thought Zero no Tsukaima would know such popularity among anime-fans. It seemed cool to me, but usually those magical-fantasy shows aren’t too popular. I think the whole "Harry Potter-hype" may have made some people watch this show. The show starts of rather slowly, but they manage to work out all elements in 13 episodes so that’s good. I know many people are now hoping for a second season, but I think everything got resolved nicely like this, so there is no real need for a second season. If there would be one anyway, I’ll be sure to watch though ^_^
At first I didn’t really like Louise, but I didn’t really dislike her either. I did think Kirche was a real bitch in the beginning, but she turns out not to be all that bad. She’s a really good friend, certainly for Tabitha. It was clear that this would be a love story, and of course Louise doesn’t want to admit her feelings, but she does get angry when Saito is just talking to other girls. I know that’s a typical anime character, but I always think it’s irritating. It’s clear that Siesta also has feelings for Saito, but I think he just sees her as a friend, and he just wants to talk to her, there’s nothing wrong with that. The love-potion incident was very funny: suddenly Louise became a lot nicer, I don’t understand why Saito would want to change her back, personally I liked her a lot better that way. The kiss with Henrietta was also funny, I wonder how one can be so stupid XD I guess you need to be an anime-character to do such a thing. Or perhaps Saito did it on purpose :p
I immediately hated that Ward-sama. I figured out pretty soon what was going on. Furthermore, I just didn’t like his attitude, acting like he’s so perfect. Of course he knew Louise was actually pretty strong, but he wouldn’t have been able to make her full power appear anyway, she needed her Gandalfr for that ^_^
Overall this series was really good. I admit it was rather short and I would also have liked more episodes, but I think they managed nicely to put the story in 13 episodes without leaving us with questions.
As usual, for a more in-depth description of the series see Random Curiosity.
